After 3 year of avoiding the trampoline with her 3 children for fear of not being able to control her bladder, she finally ‘built up the courage’ to admit the problem to the GP who suggested physiotherapy.
She had an assessment and examination which showed she was not able to contract her pelvic floor at all. She was in fact baring down when she thought when was squeezing, which was only making symptoms worse.
Polly was not able to initiate a pelvic floor contraction so began a course of electrical stimulation therapy which she continued herself at home. She was soon able to contract her pelvic floor herself and then used the machine to help build the power and her ability to hold each contraction longer. She was gradually more and more able to practice strengthening her pelvic floor herself without the use of the machine.
She has since enjoyed the occasional bounce with her kids on the trampoline and is most importantly leak-free.
Polly Says:
‘Its been hard work and didn’t happen over night, but its definitely be worth it. Louise has supported me and kept me motivated. I wish I had come to see her earlier!’
