Your assessment and treatment will depend upon the reason for your visit. All appointments will start with taking a confidential and detailed history.
Often this could mean discussing sensitive issues that are often difficult to discuss. However, understanding your symptoms and how your daily life is affected is vital in directing your treatment.
Any physical assessment will depend on what has been discussed and may include an examination of your abdominal muscles, pelvis and lumbar spine. You may be offered an internal examination to determine the tone, strength, coordination and control of your pelvic floor muscles as well as assessing for injury or scarring, signs of pelvic organ prolapse, tenderness, sensation and neural sensitivity and tightness or spasm.
The assessment findings and treatment will be discussed with you and a specific and individualised treatment programme will be developed.
